cristiano ronaldo, Man UThe number 7 ace had been the target of Spanish Giants Real Madrid since he was 18. Last summer, the hottest war of words in football exploded in Europe between Ferguson’s Manchester United and Calderon’s Real Madrid for one purpose: the signature of Ronaldo.

Now the player has made his mind to stay at Old Trafford for at least two more seasons. But at this instant, it seems he will remain in England for almost all the rest of his career, if not the whole of his career.

Speaking to the press, Ronaldo revealed his dream of winning many trophies for Manchester United. He also assured the fans that he has always and will continue to play for the club with all his body, his entire mind and, all his soul.

Ronaldo has found back last season’s outstanding form and is already starting the goal harvest he has planned to do this season. There is no doubt Ronaldo will become the greatest ever Manchester United number 7, should he remain the determined, devoted and outstanding player he has always been.

Real Madrid has missed out the chance to capture the Portuguese Superstar and Calderon was forced to admit defeat in the transfer saga… a defeat that Coach Bernd Schuster had always seen as predictable.

And now, there are even less probabilities for the Spaniards to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Ronaldo is about to sign a mega Man U deal in the summer. According to News of the World, Ronaldo’s current £120,000-per-week contract - which has more than three years remaining – will soon be restored by a new £150,000-per-week deal.

Ronaldo will then become the best ever paid Premiership player. Manchester United hope to keep their Superstar and Ferguson is certain that Real Madrid cannot match this price.

“There is no question of Ronaldo leaving,” Fergie stated.

“Calderon promised everyone they would get the lad in the summer. There was a complete arrogance about it. So I was delighted Ronaldo stayed.”

If Ronaldo’s dream of playing in Spain in the nearest future is still alive, then he can turn down the new deal and exploit FIFA Article 17, meaning that he could buy out his current contract at the end of the season.

However, Fergie is adamant that this possibility is a ‘never’:

“Nobody (at Manchester United) has ever bought himself out of his contract. I don’t think it will be an issue.”

Certainly, Ferguson is right. Cristiano Ronaldo may stay with the Champions for the rest of his life.
